Canon Personality: A documentarian who’s determined to uncover truth, no matter what it takes. Will put herself in harm’s way to achieve goals. Street-smart. Willing to help those in need, even at the expense of herself. Bends/breaks the rules to get the information she’s looking for. Good at staying hidden while bending said rules. Somewhat vengeful, to the point she’s willing to expose any and all truths to show how someone is, and she’s punched a racist or two.

AU History:
- Zarina was born and raised in Brooklyn, living with her family. She still tries to hide her cultural identity, still becomes a blogger (although they don’t say it, that’s what she was). She goes undercover at the restaurant, etc.
- Her father is murdered and she sees the footage, deciding to investigate the gang she believed was behind her father’s death. She goes to visit him in Hellshire Penitentiary, pushes all his buttons, gets the confession.
- From that, she hears of the “Mad Mick Massacre” (hi Deathslinger) from other prisoners and decides to go on a nice little walking tour of the Penitentiary. She leaves the tour and goes to find Mad Mick’s cell.
- Well, she finds it and finds an old wrench, and has a vision of her dead father as The Fog rolls in and pulls her to the Entity’s realm.
- Zarina gets pulled into the Entity’s realm, and goes through multiple trials, but after a while, she fully escapes the trial realm. She doesn’t know if the Entity was tired of her, or if she escaped from the killers enough to prove she should return home.
- She finds stories of the other survivors, trying to find the connections between all of them, noticing that most of them are still considered ‘missing persons’.
- During all of this, she pushes her remaining friends and family away, because she’s so obsessive about finding the other Survivors and getting them back home. Besides that, no one believes tales of a black fog that kidnaps people and sends them to a death games hellscape.
- She decides it’s time to leave before they think she’s completely crazy, packs up her necessities (camera, computer, clothes, etc.) and moves to Kaisou to start over, enrolling in the university as a way to access the library and, well, use as a cover. And, well, those online ‘rumors’ that somethings up with the veil/spirit realm walls here. Time to see if that’s exposure to too much mint, or something truthful.
- She doesn’t know anyone in Kaisou when she first moves there, it was a spur of the moment ‘I should move on’ type of move.
- Through her time within the Entity’s realm and searching out her survivor’s stories brought her into contact with spirits, including those of survivors who didn’t escape. So, she’s used to hearing spirit whispers, if not seeing them… yet.
- And yes, she does have an Always Sunny conspiracy board in her apartment.
AU Personality Differences: Survivor’s guilt. A lot of survivor’s guilt. Determination to find a way to get her survivor friends out of the Entity’s realm, and, if possible, take down the Entity itself.
